Day 20 | Toys and Beats Morning Report — October 20, 2026

Good morning, creators. ☀️ Day 20 is here, and today we are looking at four signals worth watching — a sync platform signing the majors and taking investment from ABBA royalty, a jazz master's publishing catalog finding its long-term steward, a hit toy line jumping into Roblox for the holidays, and a heavy ETS single from our own family that just completed its rights filings. Let's get into it.

1. MAIA Universe Strikes Sync Deals With BMG, Kobalt and Warner Music Group — Backed by ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus

What happened: Announced Monday, October 19, Stockholm- and London-based sync licensing platform MAIA Universe has signed partnerships with BMG (publishing and recordings), Kobalt (publishing), and Warner Music Group and Cooking Vinyl (recordings) — on top of earlier deals with Sony Music Publishing UK, Sony Music UK and Warner Chappell. MAIA says it now holds agreements with more than 200 labels and 90 publishing partners, with around 10,000 tracks being added to its sync discovery engine every week. The company also secured new investment from backers including ABBA's Björn Ulvaeus, Max Martin's MxM, and the RMV studio team led by Ludvig Andersson, and has been appointed by the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) as a partner for automated sync licensing, with a pilot launching in early 2027. CEO David Wille: "Sync is one of the fastest-growing opportunities for songwriters and artists today." (Source: Music Business Worldwide)

Why it matters: MAIA cited analysis of Goldman Sachs' Music in the Air report projecting commercial sync revenues rising from $2.5 billion in 2026 to $3.9 billion in 2035. The money is moving toward whoever makes licensing fast, clean and searchable — catalogs that are properly registered and metadata-ready are the ones that get picked.

The ETS/Zillion angle: This is the lane Epic Toy Sound was built for: we own our catalog, masters and publishing, keep every release registered and license-ready, and sell the music directly in our digital audio packs — so when a creator, brand or studio needs a track, the rights path is already clear.

2. Reservoir Acquires Billy Strayhorn's Publishing Catalog — and a Share in His Name, Image and Likeness

What happened: Announced Monday, October 19, Nasdaq-listed Reservoir Media has acquired the publishing catalog of jazz composer Billy Strayhorn and will participate in his name, image and likeness rights in partnership with the Strayhorn estate (Billy Strayhorn Songs, Inc.), building on a relationship that dates back to 2014. Financial terms were not disclosed. Strayhorn joined Duke Ellington's band in 1939 and collaborated with Ellington until his death in 1967; his catalog includes "Take the 'A' Train," "Lush Life," "Chelsea Bridge" and "Satin Doll." The deal follows Reservoir's acquisition of Miles Davis' music publishing catalog, announced in September 2025, on a similar estate-partnership structure. Just weeks ago, on September 30, Brian Stokes Mitchell sang "Take the 'A' Train" with the New York Philharmonic at Gustavo Dudamel's inaugural gala. (Source: Music Business Worldwide)

Why it matters: Icon catalogs are not being bought to sit in a vault — they are being stewarded, licensed and reintroduced to new generations, with the estate at the table. Legacy is an active business, and the families who keep their rights organized are the ones who get to shape it.

The ETS/Zillion angle: We think about our catalog the same way: family-owned, rights in order, built to keep earning and keep meaning something for decades. Every Epic Toy Sound release is registered work-by-work and recording-by-recording, so the music our collaborators make with us today is protected legacy tomorrow — browse the catalog in our digital audio packs.

3. MrBeast Lab Makes Its Roblox Debut With Moose Toys and Gamefam

What happened: Moose Toys and Gamefam have brought the MrBeast Lab toy franchise to Roblox for the first time, with a limited-time Mega-Tech Mutators event inside the game Untitled Fling Game that launched Saturday, October 17 and runs through Saturday, November 14. Players meet the Mutators — Panthar, Silver-Byte and NecroClaw — complete character-inspired quests, hunt a hidden Gold Variant and earn in-game rewards. MrBeast Lab, a line of collectibles and action figures, was named the No. 1 new toy property in 2024 (Circana) and later became an animated series on YouTube with 66 million views. The activation is the latest chapter in the Moose Toys–Gamefam partnership, which has now brought five Moose franchises to Roblox, generating 100 million+ gameplay sessions and 650 million+ brand engagements. (Source: Licensing.biz)

Why it matters: After Moose's 2024 holiday campaign on Roblox, over 56% of players said they were more likely to purchase the product line after playing with the franchise in-game. The toy aisle now starts inside the game — discovery, play and the wishlist all happen in the same place.

The ETS/Zillion angle: Toys that live in digital worlds need soundtracks that live there too — that crossover is exactly our home turf. Our community of toy photographers turns figures into cover art and stories every day; find the next star of your shelf in our action figures collection, and catch photographer features over at zillionmarketplace.com.

4. House Spotlight: "Heavy Caliber" — Epic Toy Sound feat. Darc Reign

What happened: Released September 23, 2026, "Heavy Caliber" is the Epic Toy Sound single featuring Darc Reign (UPC 700597052955, ISRC QTA2Q2607199), with cover art by Darc Reign — a hard-hitting trap single from one of the ETS family's most prolific collaborators, the same artist behind "Blade in the Mist" and a run of features across the Mesmerized era. This week "Heavy Caliber" completed its TuneRegistry work and recording filings, locking its publishing into the collection pipeline alongside the rest of the catalog. (Source: Epic Toy Sound / Zillion Records catalog records)

Why it matters: A single is only a moment unless its rights are built to last. "Heavy Caliber" now sits fully registered — the unglamorous step that turns a heavy track into a long-term earning asset for everyone involved.

The ETS/Zillion angle: "Heavy Caliber" joins this season's fresh drops in the same registered, license-ready catalog — "Not Alone" feat. Skull Boy and "Get Poppin" feat. KIDULT — every track with a home at toysandbeats.com. One family, one catalog, everybody eats.

Thank you for starting your Tuesday with us — four signals, one community, and a catalog that keeps growing because creators and collectors like you keep showing up. Go make something beautiful today. One love. ✌️
